A Yard Worker at Dunn Lumber is expected to learn and grow the ability to perform essential duties to uphold a safe, clean, accurate, and hospitable environment as material flows in and out of our yards. The role involves operating saws and forklifts, unloading vendor trucks, loading customer vehicles, and building lumber packages for transfer to other locations or delivery to jobsites.

• Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices.
• Conduct yourself consistently with Dunn Lumber’s core values.
• Keep the yard clean, safe, and welcoming for customers.
• Maintain knowledge of outside product codes for quick identification.
• Safely load customers with materials efficiently and courteously.
• Actively and accurately participate in building, shipping, receiving, loading, and culling.
• Load and receive vendor and customer vehicles with a forklift.
• Safely move material on and off the cantilever and sheet goods racking.
• Put away material in a neat, presentable fashion and adjust for lost or damaged material.
• Use saws to cut sheet goods and dimensional products.
• Protect materials from inclement weather and cull materials to maintain quality stock.
• Other duties as assigned.

Hours:

Monday – Friday 6:55 a.m. – 6:05 p.m.;
Saturday 7:55 a.m. – 5:05 p.m.

Current available schedule(s): (T – F 9:30 a.m. – 6:05 p.m. & Sat 7:45 a.m. – 5:05 p.m.) (M – W 6:40 a.m. – 6:05 p.m. & Sat 7:45 a.m. – 5:05 p.m.)

No previous experience required. Full-time, 40 hours per week with overtime eligibility. Forklift and saw training and certification provided.

Heavy lifting: occasional >100 pounds, frequent >50 pounds, constant >20 pounds. Stand, walk, climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch occasionally. Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception. Hearing: hear moving vehicles and forklifts frequently.

Paid two‑week training period on‑site with supervisor or at a Training Yard. Training focuses on product knowledge, Point Of Sale software, and yard operations. Training hours:
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and is required.
