About the Department

The Department of Music advances artistry, creativity, pedagogy, and scholarship as modeled and guided by faculty and realized by the undergraduate and graduate population. We are a collaborative community where the love of music is acted upon with vibrancy and unity.

WWU Music serves approximately 260 undergraduate majors and 12 graduate students annually, and offers BA, BMus and MMus degrees in multiple concentration areas, as well as minors in Music and Jazz Studies. The department is comprised of twenty full‑time faculty and approximately thirty‑six part‑time faculty. The department serves as a focal point for the campus and the regional community through collaboration, participation and leadership in music performance and instruction.

About the Position

The Music Department maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in possible openings throughout the academic year and summer sessions for temporary, limited‑term teaching positions on a part‑time basis, with occasional opportunities for temporary, full‑time appointments. Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in music or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and professionalism
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultivating learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
  • MM, PhD, DMA
  • Previous teaching experience
