Grants and Contracts Fiscal Specialist 2
Join the WWU College of Business & Economics as a Grants and Contracts Fiscal Specialist 2 to provide post‑award fiscal guidance, assistance, and administrative support for principal investigators in Environmental Science, Anthropology, and Sociology.
ResponsibilitiesProvide payroll/personnel support, purchasing and contract administration, basic fiscal reporting, and monitoring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies. Operate a centralized compliance function for effort certification on federal awards. Collaborate with WWU Fiscal Analyst 3, Grant Accountant, and department and college administrators to deliver excellent customer service to PIs.
Required Qualifications- Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1, including maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with budgets, or an equivalent education/experience combination.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial record‑keeping systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including moderately complex formulas, multi‑worksheet spreadsheets, and intermediate logic.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare clear, concise reports.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures and maintain confidentiality in handling financial information.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultivating equitable and inclusive work environments for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field.
- Experience performing fiscal/budgetary responsibilities in a college or university environment.
- Experience managing fiscal/budgetary responsibilities for grants, contracts, and/or sponsored programs.
Position open to Washington State residents. Remote/hybrid work available from the Bellingham campus. Project employment ending no later than May 31, 2026.
Conditions of EmploymentAll employees must comply with our immunization policy, including proof of Rubeola (measles) immunity within 60 days of hire. Salary: $4,174–$5,611 per month, depending on qualifications and experience. Covered by bargaining unit A under the collective bargaining agreement with Washington Federation of State Employees.
