Position: Temporary Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Educator Vacancy Pool

About the Position

The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in temporary Speech‑Language Pathologist clinical educator positions. In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year and summer sessions, applications are accepted continuously for temporary positions on a part‑time basis with rare opportunities for temporary, full‑time appointments. Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.

As a temporary Speech‑Language Pathologist Specialist, you will be responsible for directing and evaluating graduate speech‑language pathology students and providing professional speech‑language pathology services to individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Directs and evaluates graduate speech‑language pathology students
  • Educates and prepares speech‑language pathology students in the development of relevant interpersonal and clinical professional/technical skills, and evaluates their performance
  • Reviews client file and meets with students pre‑ and post‑assessment and treatment
  • Observes clinical sessions
  • Reviews evaluation and treatment plans
  • Provides guidance in clinical report writing
  • Provides verbal and written feedback and remedial instruction as needed
  • Uploads student assessments on web‑based systems (Calipso)
  • Completes student evaluations and other clinical documentation for clinical training purposes, including supervised clinical clock hours, letters of recommendation, etc.

Provides professional speech‑language pathology services to individuals.

  • With graduate student clinicians, identifies and evaluates speech‑language disorders
  • Demonstrates and evaluates use of diagnostic tools
  • Develops and evaluates treatment plans
  • Confers with family, counselors, school professionals, and other professionals in the evaluation, treatment, and progress of the client
  • Uses and demonstrates appropriate treatment methods for receptive and expressive language disabilities, behaviors, and development of alternative means of communication
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in speech‑language pathology approved by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association
  • State of Washington speech‑language pathologist license or ability to obtain one
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four years of experience as a speech‑language pathologist
  • A minimum of one year of experience supervising graduate students and previous work experience as a clinical educator at a university
Conditions of Employment

Salary

$46.27 – $62.24 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is not eligible for benefits.
