Under the direction of an Advanced Practice Clinician or MD, the Medical Assistant provides safe therapeutic care for a diverse university-age patient population in a university setting. This is a temporary position with a maximum of 1050 hours.

• Phlebotomy Tasks
  • Gathering necessary supplies, assessing veins, performing venipuncture and collecting blood specimens
  • Labeling and packaging specimens for transport
  • Documentation of actions
• Laboratory Testing
  • Obtaining samples via nasopharyngeal swab or throat swab
  • Performing rapid strep tests, blood glucose tests, In-House Hemoglobin/Hematocrit, Mono and urine tests
  • Documentation of actions
• Direct Patient Care
  • Assisting the physician or APC with physical examinations, techniques and procedures, and other aspects of patient care
  • Observing and recording patient history and current conditions; noting physical and behavioral changes, medication effects, and incidents
  • Reconciling medications and preparing the patient and electronic health record for the visit
• Miscellaneous Tasks
  • Stocking and maintaining lab supply list
  • Sterilizing instruments
  • Telephone and electronic communications
  • Other tasks as assigned

Salary: $21.69 - $28.90/hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Bargaining unit:
Temporary; covered by a Public School Employees bargaining union. New employees are eligible for membership under the current collective bargaining agreement at 350 hours of employment.

Required

• Medical Assistant - Certification (WA State)
• CPR Certification

Preferred

• Experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic or urgent care setting
• Experience obtaining samples and results for in-house tests
• Medical Assistant Phlebotomy Certification (WA State)
• Phlebotomy Certification

Immunization policies apply, including proof of Rubeola/M Measles Immunity within 60 days of hire. Fingerprint background check is required. Contact HR for exemptions or accommodations as needed.

This position requires a fingerprint background check.
