Medical Assistant – Cardiology (Full Time, Day)

Peace Health seeks a Medical Assistant – Cardiology for a 1.00 FTE, full‑time day position. The salary range is $24.99 – $33.73, with hiring rate dependent on education, training, experience, and collective bargaining agreement terms.

Position based in Bellingham, WA – a city offering outdoor recreation, strong schools and a vibrant arts scene.

• Prepare patients for examination and treatment or anesthesia interview; record patient history and vital signs.
• Prepare and set up exam and treatment rooms; maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.
• Administer injections, apply splints and dressings, and facilitate simple wound management under provider orders.
• Maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
• Transport specimens as needed.
• Assist in scheduling patients for tests, initial and follow‑up appointments.
• Maintain patient files, records and other information, including data entry into electronic medical record.
• Provide phone screening of patients to appropriate clinical staff and/or physician.
• Collaborate with various personnel and departments to ensure smooth clinic operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Accredited Medical Assistant program required (or associate degree in Allied Health that qualifies for MOA certification exam).
• Minimum of 1 year preferred experience in a medical office.
• Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
• State of Washington Medical Assistant – certified licensure required; interim certified eligible if credential obtained within 12 months.
• National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred. Acceptable certifications include:
• Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – AMT
• Clinical Medical Assistant – NHA
• National Certified Medical Assistant – NCCT
• Clinical Medical Assistant Certification – AMCA
• Registered Medical Assistant – AAH
• Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant – NAHPUSA

• Knowledge of age‑specific growth and development principles.
• Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Collaboration with multi‑disciplinary team members.
• Proficiency with computer and office equipment; familiarity with desktop computing tools, multi‑line phone systems and insurance billing preferred.
• Efficient time management and prioritization of multiple tasks.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of asepsis principles, if applicable.
