The organization supports over 2,000 employees and operates job training centers, retail stores, and donation sites in King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and Kitsap counties.
Role SummaryThe Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to appropriate production areas, ensuring a smooth flow of goods to the production floor. Pay rate: $19.13/hour

- Remove and sort through salvage material and garbage from salable goods.
- Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing.
- Maintain a smooth flow of goods to the production floor.
- Use cardboard compactors and identify problems.
- Maintain donor tallies.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and report hazards or accidents.
- Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- When certified: consistently and safely operate a forklift in accordance with Seattle Goodwill standards.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Education
:
High school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required. - Experience
:
No prior experience required. - Computer/Technology Skills
: N/A. - Certifications
:
Seattle Goodwill Forklift certification optional; must meet eligibility requirements if applicable.
Physical Abilities
:
Able to lift and carry up to 30–40 pounds; stand for long periods, bend, kneel, reach, stoop, squat, push, climb ladders, and travel across various surfaces. Able to communicate verbally and in writing, including to individuals with limited English.
Essential Mental/Sensory Abilities
:
Organizing, sorting, categorizing, counting, adding, subtracting; problem solving; communicating with the public; verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment
:
Warehouse setting, outdoors, varying temperatures, dust exposure.
