Retail Sales Associate
Department: Retail Operations
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
Reports to: Retail Supervisor
Pay Rate: $19.13/hour
About the Position
The Retail Sales Associate interacts with and assists customers, donors, and others with merchandise selection, suggestion selling, and cashiering in a courteous and professional manner.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Proactively acknowledge, greet, and help customers in any area of the store.
- Assist customers/donors in a timely and courteous manner by answering questions or directing them to a supervisor.
- Handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions, closing out cash drawer and balancing all point‑of‑sale (POS) transactions.
- Communicate through standard telephone and wireless audio systems.
- Merchandise, restock, and provide general floor maintenance where needed.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Support team members, assist supervisors and leads when necessary.
- Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and report any potential hazards or accidents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required.
- No specific experience required.
Computer/Technology Skills
- Ability to learn new technology and software related to the job.

Physical Abilities
- Lifts and carries up to 30 pounds.
- Maintains fine motor control for handling objects.
- Stands for long periods; frequently bends, kneels, reaches, stoops, squats, and pushes.
- Climbs ladders and travels across varied surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).
- Communicates verbally and in writing, including to those with limited English skills.
- Maintains reliable attendance.
