About

The Position

The Facilities Technician II maintains day‑to‑day operations and assumes responsibility for maintaining the conditions of Goodwill stores, properties, and equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Performs skilled craft work in specialties such as carpentry, plumbing, welding, electrical, and may lead projects.
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance and a variety of building repair tasks; prioritizes schedules, assigns, and coordinates workflow.
  • Constructs, rebuilds, and repairs equipment and facilities such as store furniture, fixtures, pallet jacks, carts, scrubber machines, compressors, timers, relays, and equipment remotes.
  • Follows all Facilities Department protocols.
  • Performs complex tasks/special assignments and trains others as needed.
  • Performs routine electrical and plumbing repairs and maintenance, including replacing ballasts and faucets, toilets, and urinals.
  • Repairs doors, drywall, roofs, downspouts, and other facility needs.
  • Performs welding (Mig, Tig, Oxy‑Acetylene, etc.) as required.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in safe, clean, and proper working conditions.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices, reports hazards or accidents, and supports a safety culture.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records related to materials, work orders, and expense reports.
  • Purchases tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Operates light trucks and equipment: work vans, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and towing equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED, technical training certificate, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Prior construction experience or background is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of general maintenance, carpentry, painting, refurbishing, plumbing, electrical, appliances, and HVAC.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Can perform a wide variety of tasks with little or no direction; skilled in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, mechanical, etc.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools such as saws, roto hammers, and drill presses.
  • Professional, independent, organized, and a team player.
  • Maintains confidentiality of business and operational information.

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations

  • Valid Washington State driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Meet any maintenance educational and/or training requirements.

Computer/Technology Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software related to the job.

Physical Abilities

Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; fine motor control; stand for long periods; bend, kneel, reach, stoop, squat, push, climb ladders; travel across varied surfaces; operate computer systems; and maintain reliable attendance.

Work Environment
