As part of our ongoing growth, Luddon Construction is seeking experienced Site Engineers to support the delivery of civil engineering works across the Central Belt of Scotland. The vacancies are within our Civil Engineering, Energy, East of Scotland and Surfacing Divisions, based from our regional offices in Glasgow, Bellshill or Falkirk, with projects located throughout the Central Belt.

Job Purpose

The Site Engineer will provide technical and engineering support to site teams across a range of civil engineering projects. The role will include setting out, surveying, checking drawings and levels, maintaining quality records, and ensuring that works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with design information, specifications and programme requirements. Working closely with Site Managers, Supervisors, Operatives and other project team members, the Site Engineer will help identify and resolve technical issues on site while supporting the development of junior engineers and apprentices.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Carry out setting out, levelling, surveying and site control activities using GPS, total stations and other relevant equipment.
  • Establish, maintain and protect site control points, levels and survey information.
  • Check drawings, plans, specifications and quantities for accuracy, buildability and alignment with site conditions.
  • Ensure the latest approved drawings, specifications and construction information are being used on site.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with design information, specifications, standards and required tolerances.
  • Carry out inspections and maintain quality records in line with Inspection and Test Plans, specifications and company procedures.
  • Record as-built information, survey data, test results, site diaries and other project records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with Site Managers, Supervisors, subcontractors, designers and other project team members to coordinate technical requirements and resolve site queries.
  • Support procurement and planning by providing technical information, measurements and quantities where required.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies, design issues, clashes or site constraints and raise technical queries where required.
  • Work in accordance with RAMS, permits and project procedures, and support the safe delivery of engineering activities on site.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, apprentices and site staff to help build future capability.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with health and safety legislation, company procedures, project rules and client requirements.
  • Lead by example and promote safe working practices across site engineering activities.
  • Ensure setting out, surveying and inspection activities are planned and carried out safely, including when working around plant, traffic, excavations, temporary works and live site operations.
  • Follow RAMS, permits, temporary works controls and service avoidance procedures relevant to the works being undertaken.
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses and incidents promptly, and expedite any concerns where work cannot be carried out safely.
