Cad Technician

We are currently working with an established contractor within the renewables sector who is looking for a CAD Technician on a permanent basis. A big part of the role is supporting the delivery of civil design packages across energy infrastructure projects, particularly BESS developments.

The role will involve producing and updating drawings such as general arrangements, site layouts, drainage, and earthworks, working from engineer mark‑ups and survey information. A key part of the position is being able to take rough information or sketches and turn them into clean, accurate, and buildable drawings in line with our standards.

They’ll also be supporting temporary works and assisting with things like haul roads, working platforms, and access layouts, so there’s a good mix of design and practical work. There will also be opportunities to attend site on a weekly basis if needs be, to help better understand what is being built and how drawings translate into construction.

Their work will be closely integrated within a small team, including a senior chartered civil engineer who will provide guidance when needed, as well as another civil design technician to collaborate with and support development. Our projects are mainly within the energy sector, so they’ll be exposed to a range of infrastructure work rather than repetitive drafting, as every site carries its unique engineering solutions.

We’re ideally looking for someone with a civil background, around 2‑6 years’ experience, who is comfortable in AutoCAD (Civil 3D) and has a knowledge of BIM as a bonus, and who can work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Civil/Structural model and drawing production:

Salary is open to negotiation depending on experience, start date is also negotiable.
