what's the role?
as a modern apprentice within regulatory services, private sector housing team, you will support the delivery of key housing services that help improve housing standards and living conditions across north lanarkshire.
the private sector housing team plays an important role in supporting homeowners, tenants, landlords and communities by administering and delivering a range of private sector housing functions.
during your apprenticeship, you will gain practical experience in:
short term let licensing compliance
- scheme of assistance enquiries and applications
- customer service and stakeholder engagement
- private sector housing disrepair casework
- landlord registration administration and compliance
- short term let licensing compliance
- houses in multiple occupation compliance
- housing legislation and statutory duties
- case management and records administration
- housing quality and condition standards
- working with landlords, homeowners, tenants and partner agencies.
you will work alongside experienced officers and will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of how local authorities regulate and support the private housing sector, helping to ensure safe, sustainable and well-maintained homes for residents throughout north lanarkshire.
as part of this apprenticeship, you will undertake a relevant scqf level 7 qualification while gaining valuable workplace experience in a professional housing environment.

what do i need?
you do not need to have previous work experience, although you should have english and at least three other qualifications (band a-c) at national 5 level or above. Higher english and maths (or equivalent qualifications) are desirable. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are keen to learn and contribute to our ambition for north lanarkshire. During the selection process, we will be looking for candidates who can demonstrate ambition and enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and develop good communication skills, adaptability and flexibility, a positive and professional attitude, the ability to work well as part of a team, showing initiative and taking ownership of tasks, an interest in housing, communities and public services.
eligibility
in accordance with government guidelines, you’ll need to be aged 16-24 (at the point of starting the apprenticeship) or if you are disabled or care experienced, you’ll need to be aged between 16-29 (at the point of starting the apprenticeship).
