The Role

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the application of the Framework of the Nursing Process to deliver high standards of client / patient nursing care for patients with a range of mental disorders, substance misuse, learning disability or co-morbidity, under the clinical supervision of the caseload holder / charge nurse / team leader, senior charge nurse or practitioner. The registered nurse has delegated responsibility for the appraisal and clinical supervision of students and clinical / healthcare support workers in provision of care and treatment within a defined clinical service, under the management and leadership of the team leader / senior charge nurse or practitioner.

  • Apply values based practice principles such as those of respect and dignity in all aspects of care and treatment and in interactions with colleagues.
  • Implement the framework of the nursing process to participate in person centred assessment and participate in the development and implementation of client / patient care plan in accordance with operational policies for the defined clinical area, and under the clinical supervision of the named nurse (or equivalent), senior nursing staff and / or multidisciplinary team.
  • Actively and meaningfully involve relevant people, including the client / patient and carers in a shared responsibility for assessment, prevention and management of risk and positive risk taking, and individual vulnerabilities within the scope, range, skills and competencies of the post.
  • Escorting and providing intervention to clients / patients as directed by the named nurse (or equivalent), charge nurse, senior charge nurse or practitioner without direct supervision.

  • The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
  • Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
