Job Purpose

Lecturing in the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural engineering).All base qualifications must be in Civil Engineering.
• At least 2 years’ relevant teaching experience in higher education and/or2 years’ industrial experience in the Civil Engineering industry.
• .Must be registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist.

• Deliver high‑quality lecturing in Civil Engineering subjects.
• Develop, contribute and generate new knowledge through research outputs.
• Supervise and mentor students.
• Develop innovative teaching, learning and assessment materials.
• Contribute to curriculum and programme development.
• Promote community participation, linkages, outreach and industry liaison.
• Support assessment and academic development activities.
• Perform and assist with academic administrative duties.
• Ensure and participate in quality assurance practices within the Department.
• Proven ability to deliver structured, high‑quality lectures.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in MS Office, with sound organisational and time‑management skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional and academic development.
• Effective communication and academic presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound academic judgement.
