Alta du Toit Aftercare Centre is a program of Badisa, a joint ministry action of the Dutch Reformed Church (Western Cape) and the United Reformed Church of South Africa (Cape), have a vacancy for a Head of Department:
Finance.
The purpose of this job is to compile accurate and timeous monthly and annual financial reports to produce and present to Management to enable sound decision making for sustainability, including financial administration, and maintaining of accounting rules and regulations.
Responsibilities Include- To manage cash flow for the centre including annual and monthly budgets
- To ensure effective recordkeeping of all cashflow including petty cash
- To reconcile all debtors and creditors, including journal entries on Sage Online and loading of payments for approval
- To compile, reconcile and pay VAT and PAYE as required
- To review and distribute monthly fee statements related to client accounts
- To ensure the administration of non-financial data for residents and day care clients including the capturing of SASSA grants on Sage Online
- To ensure continued reporting to the Centre Manager and Finance Committee of income statement and monthly expense reports for relevant departments
- To provide an analytical breakdown of financial statements and budgets for the Finance Committee
- To ensure bookkeeping processes, including reconciliation and transfers are completed for all General Ledger accounts, including Balance Sheet and Control Accounts
- To prepare Trial Balance and supporting documentation for annual external audit.
The successful candidate will have matric/Grade 12 with a tertiary financial qualification, a valid driver's licence and at least five (5) years' experience as an accountant or in a similar position. Further requirements include computer literacy, strong communication, organisation, interpersonal and customer service skills.
