Job PurposeThe IT Senior Infrastructure Consultant support incumbent will be responsible for the effective support, maintenance, availability, and continuous improvement of CPUT’s IT infrastructure services. This role ensures stable, secure, and efficient operation of enterprise systems with a strong focus on Microsoft Office 365 and associated technologies, enabling academic and administrative excellence across the institution.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Relevant National Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer Systems.
- At least 3 years’ experience in IT infrastructure support, of which 1 year is at a senior or advanced level.
- Proven experience supporting Microsoft Office 365 in Higher Education environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, One Drive, Teams, Azure AD/Entra , virtualisation platforms (e.g. VMware/Hyper‑V), and backup solutions and security/compliance features.
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Office 365, Azure, ITIL, or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Provide senior‑level support, administration, and optimisation of MS Office 365 services.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of ICT infrastructure platforms.
- Monitor, analyse, and resolve infrastructure incidents and problems within agreed SLAs.
- Plan and implement infrastructure upgrades, changes, and improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior ICT staff.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with security and governance requirements.
- Support disaster recovery planning, backup management, and business continuity initiatives.
- Liaise with service providers and vendors to ensure quality service delivery.
- Microsoft 365 & Windows Server administration with strong infrastructure support and maintenance.
- Advanced systems monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Solid understanding of enterprise IT (servers, storage, networking, virtualisation).
- Security, compliance, data protection, and governance awareness
- Change, configuration, and IT service management (ITIL principles).
- Strong customer service focus with effective communication skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, with sound judgement and decision-making.
- Proven ability to prioritise, plan, and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Professional, adaptable team player, able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Skilled in documentation, technical mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
