BillingCenter Developer - JG

Santam's Core Insurance Platform team is looking for a Billing Center Developer who will be based at the Head Office in Bellville.

The incumbent will be responsible for the development, enhancement, maintenance and operational support of Santam’s Guidewire Billing Center platform. The role supports business initiatives, production stability, system integrations and ongoing optimisation of Billing Center capabilities across the Guidewire Insurance Suite landscape.

• Design, develop, configure and maintain Guidewire Billing Center functionality and extensions.
• Develop solutions in accordance with Guidewire best practices, architecture standards and Santam development standards.
• Analyse technical requirements and translate functional specifications into scalable technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain integrations between Billing Center, Policy Center, Claim Center, JDE and other enterprise applications.
• Configure billing plans, payment plans, delinquency processes, invoicing, payment allocation and financial event processing.
• Perform root-cause analysis and resolution of production defects and incidents.
• Participate in application upgrades, cloud releases and platform optimisation initiatives.
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, quality analysts and support teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, configurations and deployment procedures.
• Ensure adherence to performance, security and operational support requirements.

Generic Functions

• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior developers and support resources.
• Participate in estimation, sprint planning, backlog refinement and technical design reviews.
• Stay abreast of Guidewire Billing Center product enhancements, cloud releases and development practices.

Integration Functions

• Design and develop interfaces using Guidewire integration frameworks and web services.
• Collaborate with enterprise integration teams to support reliable and secure system connectivity.
• Analyse and resolve interface issues affecting financial processing and reconciliation activities.

Quality Assurance

• Conduct code reviews, unit testing and peer reviews.
• Support integration testing, system testing and user acceptance testing activities.
• Ensure solutions meet quality, performance and supportability standards before deployment.

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ software development experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with Guidewire Insurance Suite platforms.
• Experience developing and supporting Guidewire Billing Center solutions.
• Strong experience with Gosu, Java, SQL, XML, REST APIs and web services.
• Experience working with cloud-hosted applications and agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience with in the financial services or short-term insurance industry will be advantageous.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence.

• Strong knowledge of Guidewire Billing Center architecture and configuration.
• Knowledge of billing, invoicing, receivables, payment processing and reconciliation processes.
• Knowledge of integration patterns, middleware and enterprise application architecture.
• Understanding of Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD and modern software engineering practices.
• Understanding of Guidewire Cloud Platform operational practices.
