Chess Instructor | Winter

Location & Schedule

Belmont, CA. Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–6:00 PM. 1–5 classes per week, typically 2:00–5:00 PM at local schools.

• Competitive pay: $55–$75 per class (≈1 ½ hour class including setup and follow‑up).
• Flexible hours with minimum of 1 class, up to 5 classes per week.
• Travel compensation: mileage reimbursement for trips over 15 miles one way.
• Full training and ongoing support, free chess materials, opportunities for advancement.

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use the structured curriculum to teach fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem‑solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols—supervision during arrival, dismissal, and class activities.
• Travel to local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.

• Experience with children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling or similar).
• Strong leadership and the ability to run classes independently.
• Professional, positive, kid‑friendly demeanor.
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Solid grasp of chess fundamentals; able to explain piece movement, basic strategy, and tactics age‑appropriately.
• Ability to relate chess problem‑solving to real‑life problem‑solving.
• Reliable personal transportation to drive between sites.
• Availability weekday afternoons, 2:00–5:00 PM, for 1–5 classes per week.
• Commitment to safety protocols and a strong record of reliability.
• Excellent punctuality and time‑management skills.

• Resume indicating relevant experience with children in education or recreational settings.
• Completed questionnaire on interest, experience with children, chess teaching qualifications.

Location Requirement

Must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the Belmont, CA area. Relocation assistance not provided.
