Mass General Brigham invites applications for the Clinical Social Worker role focused on trauma and dissociative disorders.

McLean Hospital is a comprehensive psychiatric hospital dedicated to high‑quality, cost‑effective mental health services. This position will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patients’ medical or physical condition and assess client needs. The role manages a caseload of 6‑7 patients, working with all healthcare team members to develop and implement treatment plans that are patient‑centered.

• Provides psychosocial assessments of patients and families with social, emotional, interpersonal, and environmental issues, and formulates biopsychosocial assessment, disposition, and treatment plans.
• Collaborates with other professionals to evaluate patients’ medical or physical condition and assess client needs as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress according to measurable goals described in the treatment and care plan.

The Trauma and Dissociative Disorders unit is a 21‑bed co‑educational facility specializing in complex trauma and dissociative disorders. Patients may present with complex PTSD, personality disorders, suicidal ideation, self‑injurious behavior, and a range of psychiatric diagnoses. The unit emphasizes safety, stability, and skills‑based interventions including CBT/DBT.

• Attend daily interdisciplinary rounds.
• Provide psychoeducation to patients and family/social supports.
• Plan aftercare and discharge, and maintain medical record documentation.
• Conduct psychosocial, diagnostic, and treatment planning sessions; engage family work and collaborate with internal and community providers.
• Implement patient‑centered interventions such as psychoeducation, coping skills acquisition (CBT/DBT), and discharge/aftercare planning.

Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work required.

Licenses and Credentials:

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW – MA)
• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW – MA)
• Must obtain LCSW within one year of hire.

Experience: 0–1 year of clinical experience in a medical setting required.

• Ability to work well collaboratively and independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources and the aging process.
• Demonstrates fundamental skills in formulation, risk assessment, crisis intervention, psychosocial treatment planning, and documentation.
• May need assistance or guidance in ensuring patient needs, safety measures, and concerns are addressed.
• Developing interpersonal collaboration within medical settings, including inpatient or outpatient.
• May provide assistance with onboarding new team members and participate in department initiatives.
• Uses data to measure progress and promotes collaboration and equity among healthcare team members.
