Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the MHS provides direct patient care and participates in a therapeutic milieu.

Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

  • Identifies and reports house cleaning issues to the Unit Secretary/ND.
  • Identifies and reports equipment problems to the Unit Secretary/ND.
  • Participates in the unit’s inventory system, reporting low supplies.
  • Initiates activities that help patients maintain a clean environment.
  • Promotes an organized, safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living.
  • Identifies patient hygiene needs and implements interventions.
  • Provides for patients’ nutritional needs per unit procedures.
  • Assists and reassures patients during tests, exams, and procedures.
  • Supervises patient escorts, ensuring safety.
  • Maintains a commitment to professional growth and competency.
  • Completes mandatory in-service requirements.
  • Identifies areas for professional development with supervisors.
  • Maintains competency for treating specific age groups.
  • Seeks feedback from colleagues and participates in debriefings.

    Job Summary

    Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator & Charge Nurse, the Community Residence Counselor (CRC) provides direct patient care and participates in a therapeutic milieu within defined practice scope.

    Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

    • Provides direct patient care according to treatment plans.
    • Supervises community activities, including transportation as needed.
    • Remains alert and attentive during shifts.
    • Assists patients with appointments and maintains documentation.
    • Builds professional relationships with patients while maintaining boundaries.
    • Participates in rounds, status checks, and team meetings.
    • Completes assigned patient care tasks.
    • Manages the therapeutic environment effectively.
    • Provides direction and supervision as needed.
    • Follows policies, procedures, and protocols.
    • Communicates patient observations and concerns promptly.
    • Encourages activities of daily living and assesses sleep patterns.
    • Completes mandatory training, including CPR and de-escalation.
    • Attends rounds and case conferences as appropriate.
    • Physical ability to participate in patient activities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications

      Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

      Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

      Experience: At least one year of clinical experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting; 1-2 years preferred. Previous direct patient care experience is preferred.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate, complete Epic training within 30 days, and pass with 80% or higher.
