Pastry Assistant

Job Summary

The Pastry Assistant is skilled, organized, and creative, a team player who follows instructions and helps delight guests with delicious desserts from the menu. Strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness are essential as you work with the pastry and kitchen team.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining a sanitized and well-organized kitchen.
  • Preparing workstations for baking.
  • Skill in operating equipment such as mixers, food processors, food cutters, slicers, blenders, gas range, and fryers.
  • Checking the quality of the ingredients.
  • Preparing baked/cooked items using various techniques.
  • Preparing food using various pastry techniques.
  • Arranging food and ensuring an appealing presentation.
  • Manage food storage, stock, and ingredient orders.
  • Time management and organizational skills to review daily production needs and plan daily.
Requirements
  • Must be able to accurately weigh, sift, measure, and mix baking ingredients.
  • Be able to adhere to recipes.
  • Must be knowledgeable in bread and standard pastry items such as ice creams, cakes, chocolate, and various pastry techniques.
  • Must have at least 3 years of pastry experience.
  • Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Must have basic bakery skills and a good understanding of bakery terminology, as well as baker s math.
  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload.
  • Ability to interact in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to complete orders quickly.
  • Serv Safe is a plus, as well as previous experience in a high-volume bakery or restaurant setting.
