About

the role

The Flavorist will be responsible for supporting flavor creation projects within the Americas region. This role involves developing innovative flavors aligned with business needs and customer briefs, leveraging Kerry’s technology to deliver unique solutions. The Flavorist will collaborate with global R&D teams, interact with key customers, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while driving creativity and technical excellence.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop flavors in response to customer briefs and business requirements.
  • Utilize Kerry technology to create unique and innovative flavor solutions.
  • Demonstrate creative leadership and collaborate with global R&D teams to maximize technology and innovation.
  • liWork closely with internal teams and proactively explore new ingredients.
  • Engage with key customers regionally and globally to understand requirements and build strong relationships.
  • Support customer work sessions and presentations.
  • Conduct physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing and analysis of flavors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements for flavors.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver optimal taste and nutrition experiences.
  • Participate in sensory panels and contribute to flavor evaluations.
  • Represent Kerry at industry events to promote the company, network, and identify talent opportunities.
Qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Life Sciences, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.

Solid foundation in scientific and regulatory disciplines, including:

  • Food Safety and Microbiology
  • Food Chemistry and Process Engineering
  • Regulatory Compliance and Packaging Science
  • Proven experience in flavor development is essential.
  • Certification from the Society of Flavor Chemists is highly desirable.
Key Skills & Competencies >
  • Exceptional olfactory and gustatory acuity with the ability to detect and differentiate complex flavor profiles.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including root cause analysis and troubleshooting in formulation and processing.
  • Proficiency in mathematical calculations for formulation, scaling, and process optimization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and manage conflict constructively in a team environment.
  • No restrictions in tasting a wide range of food and flavor materials, including diverse sensory characteristics.
  • The pay range for this position is $107,757 – $181,563 in Annual Salary. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay‑for‑performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

    The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
