- Design, validate, and optimize production processes for large‑scale welded components and assemblies.
- Work cross‑functionally with design, quality, operations, and project teams.
- Support robotic, laser, and continuous‑improvement efforts.
- Develop, document, and maintain welding and fabrication processes for large assemblies (MIG, TIG, resistance, laser, robotic).
- Program, support, and optimize ABB robotic welding systems (or equivalent).
- Create and maintain WPS, PQRs, and weld qualifications per AWS, ASME, ISO standards.
- Design weld sequences, fixture strategies, tooling to control distortion, residual stress, dimensional stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve weld defects using root‑cause analysis.
- Collaborate with design engineering on geometry, tolerances, material selection for better weldability.
- Provide hands‑on support and training on shop floor.
- Partner with quality/inspection groups to utilize NDT feedback to close the loop on issues.
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma).
- Track, report, and analyze process metrics and propose improvements.
- Support cost estimation and technical proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of process engineering in welding manufacturing large assembly environment.
- Hands‑on expertise in multiple welding methods, including robotic and laser welding.
- Experience programming and supporting ABB robotic systems (or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of metallurgical behavior, material weldability, heat treatments/coatings.
- Familiarity with CAD, CAM, weld simulation, or process modeling tools.
- Strong working knowledge of AWS, ASME, ISO 9001/ISO 9100 or applicable standards.
- Demonstrated capability to work cross‑functionally with design, operations, QA.
- Proven track record in leading process improvements, cost reduction, quality enhancements.
- Excellent communication, documentation, problem‑solving skills.
