Role Overview

Accountable for the day‑to‑day operations of the commercial loan operations team. Works closely with the Commercial Operations Manager to ensure efficient lending processes, meet department goals, member satisfaction, and minimize operational losses. Supports the credit union’s strategic goals and core values.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Appraise performance and recommend promotion, disciplinary action, or termination.
  • Oversee loan operations: gather documents, clear conditions, prepare closing documentation, booking, funding, maintenance, corrections, adjustments, tracking titles and insurance.
  • Work with internal and external auditors, prepare audits and examinations, and address audit action items.
  • Partner with Training Department to develop and update training materials.
  • Ensure processes, procedures, and workflows meet business, regulatory, and internal standards; propose revisions for efficiency.
  • Provide clear written guidelines, minimize losses through effective internal controls.
  • Facilitate collaboration, problem solving, continuous process improvement, and drive financial value for members.
  • Offer operational solutions to business challenges and serve as operational subject‑matter expert.
  • Manage daily department operations, align procedures with credit union expectations, work with third‑party vendors to ensure smooth programs and high member satisfaction.
  • Act independently to support department goals, updating the Commercial Operations Manager on major projects, employee issues, and goal progress.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations (Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control) and follow credit union policies to minimize risk.
Requirements Experience

5 to 8 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

Education / Certifications / Licenses

Two‑year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school (≈64 credit hours).

Interpersonal Skills

Trustworthy, credible, diplomatic. Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with customers, reports, and vendors. Strong communication skills for motivating, influencing, educating, and advising across all levels.

Other Skills
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting commercial loans.
  • Knowledge of commercial loan policies, procedures, products, and services.
  • Legal knowledge of commercial loan documentation and retention preferred.
  • Computer skills:
    Microsoft Word, Windows, Excel.
Physical Requirements

Primarily sedentary work; lifting up to 10 lbs; able to climb stairs in emergencies; routine office equipment operation; average 6–8 hours on computer; ready for extended hours as needed; reliable attendance.

Working Conditions

Indoor, climate‑controlled shared area; moderate noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Ability to perform job functions with or without supervision; deliver clear information; perform mathematical calculations; handle multiple priorities; maintain discretion on confidential matters; remain calm with diverse personalities; operate at high speed and accuracy.
