Overview
Our company is a respected leader in tank manufacturing seeking a dynamic and innovative Senior Weld Engineer (Large Assembly). This permanent position within the Manufacturing Department will involve overseeing large assembly projects, ensuring they are executed to the highest standard and leveraging advanced welding techniques such as laser welding.
Base Pay Range$/yr – $/yr
Responsibilities- Oversee the execution of large assembly projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Use CAD, Inventor, Autocad, Solidworks, and other design software to create detailed drawings and models of assembly projects.
- Conduct strength and size calculations to ensure that all products are structurally sound and meet the necessary specifications.
- Use metallurgy knowledge to select the best materials for each project and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
- Implement and maintain ISO 9000 quality management standards throughout all stages of the manufacturing process.
- Use FEA and simulation techniques to predict how products will perform under different conditions and identify potential issues before they arise.
- Provide detailed instructions and guidance to the welding team, ensuring they understand the project requirements and are able to execute them accurately.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in welding technology and incorporate them into manufacturing processes where appropriate.
- A bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on large assembly projects.
- Proficiency in CAD, Inventor, Autocad, Solidworks, and other design software.
- Thorough understanding of ISO 9000 quality management standards and experience implementing them in a manufacturing setting.
- CWI certification is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of metallurgy and experience working with a variety of materials.
- Experience with FEA and simulation techniques.
- Proficiency in laser welding, sheet metal work, and other welding techniques.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
