About the RoleWe are looking for a
** Research, Development and Application Senior Scientist
** to support the growth of the North American Beverage market. The role is based at the Kerry Global Technology & Innovation Centre in Beloit, Wisconsin, USA, reporting to the RD&A Director/Manager. The scientist will execute the business strategy by creating market‑relevant, differentiated products that meet customer and consumer requirements, utilizing Kerry’s industry‑leading portfolio of technologies.
This position is part of a team that develops powder and liquid beverage concepts with strong cross‑functional collaboration across Flavorists, Nutrition Scientists, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales, and Finance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead formulation and concept development from end‑to‑end on internal and customer projects within North America for the Beverage market.
- Apply commercial and technical awareness of ingredients, processes, end‑use markets and customer requirements to deliver project objectives across powder and liquid beverage formats.
- Develop innovative solutions to grow customers and Kerry’s market share within cost parameters and manufacturing capabilities while ensuring new products are legal in the country of use.
- Manage Pilot Plant validation work and facilitate first production trials of new products internally and with third‑party manufacturers.
- Build strong relationships with customer contacts via clear communication, on‑site and virtual visits, presentations, and supporting trials when required.
- Support sales and business representatives during customer calls with technical presentations and product demonstrations.
- Work within cross‑functional teams to optimize Kerry’s strengths and deliver the best Taste and Nutrition experience for our customers.
- Study methods to improve product quality such as flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, and physical, chemical, and microbiological composition.
- BSc/MSc/PhD in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in product development, preferably in beverages.
- Experience with functional ingredients (probiotics, adaptogens, botanical extracts, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of the North American beverage market.
- Proven success in product development leading to successful market launch.
- Curiosity and a willingness to push creative boundaries.
- Strong team‑player with excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and project‑management skills.
- Knowledgeable in food chemistry, sensory science, microbiology, food packaging systems, and food engineering.
