Overview
Beloit College’s Department of Athletics & Recreation seeks an Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach to recruit, coach, and mentor student‑athletes, fostering academic and athletic development in a diverse campus environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates a record of success in coaching soccer and recruiting student‑athletes at the collegiate level.
Responsibilities- Assist the head coach in all aspects of coaching, including preparing and teaching practices and competitions.
- Build strong, positive relationships with teammates, mentoring students and teaching leadership, teamwork, and time‑management skills.
- Establish and enforce codes of behavior for all team functions.
- Hold regular meetings with players to enhance academic performance and set individual and team goals.
- Contribute to the creation of a supportive, anti‑racist campus culture across all coaching, mentoring, recruiting, and campus‑wide involvement activities.
- Represent the athletics program to prospective students, families, and the broader community.
- Manage equipment, uniforms, and inventory, and coordinate post‑season awards and banquets.
- Collaborate with the enrollment office to recruit academically and athletically qualified student‑athletes.
- Communicate with prospective players and their influencers via email, texting, phone calls, and social media.
- Attend high‑school games, showcases, camps, and other recruiting events; meet with prospects during campus visits and open houses.
- Practice responsible fiscal management and assist the head coach in administrative coordination.
- Perform Sports Information functions as directed.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of soccer coaching or playing experience (or a combination of the two).
- Previous coaching experience required.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and flexibility to learn other relevant software.
- Adherence to NCAA and MWC rules and regulations.
- Experience planning, organizing, and prioritizing multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Understand and appreciate the mission of a residential liberal arts college and work well in a fast‑paced, diverse office environment.
- Develop and contribute to welcoming learning and work environments for people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing activities, expectations, and responsibilities.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills; ability to think critically and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, students, families, and the general public.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and advocate for continuous improvement and innovation in office operations.
