Medical Records Specialist PRN at HCA Healthcare (Belton Regional Medical Center)

As a Medical Records Specialist, you would be responsible for assisting the HIM Director by routinely performing duties in support of the management of the Horizon Patient Folder (HPF)/Mc Patient Folder (MPF) workflow queues, working applicable worklists within 3M 360 Encompass, the resolution of unbilled accounts, and the processing of physician suspensions. You will serve as the primary point of contact when the HIM Director and/or HIM Coordinator is unavailable.

• Retrieve discharged medical records from various departments and reconcile them to all records are accounted for.
• Facilitate the retrieval and printing of medical records from storage, and manage storage, archival, and record retention of documents and/or other alternate media that cannot be scanned into HPF/MPF.
• Assist with the physician suspension process, including evaluating suspension needs, creating recommended suspension lists for approval, sending notice letters, and making reminder calls.
• Prepare medical records and loose documents for scanning.
• Scan and index medical record documents.
• Interact with parents to collect and document birth information, deliver forms, and guide completion of forms.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Hospital or medical office experience preferred, but not required. Experience in handling patient health information, medical records document imaging and/or medical records is strongly preferred.
• Completion of a certification program from the state(s) may be required for birth certificate processing; training and course fees will be provided.

PRN scheduled as needed. Availability currently needed for Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Potential coverage also needed for evening shifts Sun‑Wed or Mon‑Fri 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No guarantee of hours exceeding four per week. Training will be full‑time for first 3–4 weeks.
