Material Handler

The Material Handler's primary responsibilities include performing receiving, stocking, kitting, shipping, cycle counting and line stocking duties.

• Operates industrial forklift to perform material handling assignments
• Receives, identifies and unloads materials/parts and stores them in inventory
• Identifies, draws from inventory and transports material, parts and equipment associated with locomotives
• Familiarizes self with material packaging areas to assure prompt delivery and adequate supply of required items
• Inspects and completes reports related to safe operation and maintenance of material handling equipment prior to operation
• Operates all equipment in a safe manner
• Assists in other areas and duties as assigned by supervision

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Minimum 6 months distribution/material handling or equivalent experience
• Previous forklift operation experience desired
• Basic knowledge of PC for data entry
• Must be able to work any shift
• Must be able to work overtime when required
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to team lift up to 55 lbs., push and pull up to 125 lbs., and perform frequent bending and reaching

• Strength – Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 lbs, push and pull up to 125 lbs
• Motion – Constant walking, frequent and sustained bending, crouching, stopping, kneeing, squatting and overhead reaching
• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and hear audible alarms
• Work Environment – Works on varied surfaces, concrete floors, gravel, rail car and locomotive floors, at varied heights, in confined spaces, non‑temperature controlled environment, all weather with high noise and dust levels
• Emotional Demands – Comfortable working alone due to working environment, noise, dust and required personal protective equipment
• Safety – Safety‑sensitive position; must follow all safety protocols, health/medical screenings and wear required PPE including metatarsal boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, aprons and ear protection
