Bell County operates under a County Government system led by the Commissioners Court, which consists of five members. The Court appoints and confirms key leadership positions including the County Engineer, Human Resources Director, Fire Marshal, CIO, and others.
The County Engineer’s Office provides engineering oversight and infrastructure management support for the Road & Bridge Department of Bell County for the unincorporated areas of the county. It is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of roads, bridges, drainage systems, and stormwater programs. The County Engineer reports directly to the Commissioners’ Court. The ideal candidate will be a self‑motivated, forward‑thinking engineer with a proven ability to balance technical expertise and strategic vision.
They will bring strong communication skills, capable of translating complex engineering concepts into clear recommendations for the Commissioners Court, development community, and residents.
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Six (6) years progressively responsible public works/municipal engineering experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer (Texas) within 6 months of employment
Preferred:
- Experience with capital bond elections
- Knowledge of subdivision regulation and drainage criteria development
- Familiarity with stormwater and floodplain management
- Residency in Bell County is preferred
The salary range for this position is $151,796 – $188,740, depending on qualifications and experience.
