Position Overview

Career Links is seeking a dedicated Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to provide school-based services in a collaborative educational environment. This full-time, in-person position offers the opportunity to support students with communication disorders while working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.

The SLPA will assist in implementing treatment plans, providing direct therapy services, documenting student progress, and supporting students in reaching their communication goals. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about helping children succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Provide direct speech-language therapy services to students as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
  • Implement treatment plans and interventions developed by the supervising SLP
  • Assist with speech, language, voice, fluency, and social communication services
  • Collect and maintain accurate data regarding student performance and progress
  • Document therapy sessions and maintain records in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems and devices
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and related service providers to support student success
  • Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities as requested
  • Prepare therapy materials and support classroom carryover of communication strategies
  • Foster a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment for students
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant studies, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Current Texas Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), or eligibility to obtain licensure
  • Knowledge of speech-language disorders, therapy techniques, and educational practices
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology and electronic documentation systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a school-based, pediatric, or early intervention setting
  • Experience supporting students with AAC devices and assistive technology
  • Familiarity with IDEA, special education procedures, and IEP implementation
