Overview

The Carpenter will perform carpentry duties necessary to maintain and repair wooden structures and equipment. These include, but are not limited to, building and repairing bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood. The work involves planning, measuring, constructing, and assembling wooden structures and fixtures in accordance with blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions. The position requires expertise with various tools, materials, and techniques to handle a range of carpentry projects.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and layout work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
  • Use a variety of carpenter hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments to complete assignments.
  • Make standard shop computations related to dimensions, measurements, and material requirements.
  • Select and prepare materials necessary for the work based on project specifications.
  • Construct, repair, and maintain items such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim.
  • Inspect existing structures and equipment to identify required repairs or enhancements.
  • Ensure construction and repairs meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (HSD) or equivalent (e.g., G.E.D. certification) and training received through high‑school shop classes, mechanical drawing, and blueprint reading or on‑the‑job training; and training received at a vocational school or community college.
  • This position requires the submission of a DNA sample, which will be stored in the government‑managed DNA Sample‑Employee Database to ensure it is excluded from CODIS (Combined DNA Index System).
  • Secret Clearance is required.
  • Due to the nature of work performed at the client’s facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum

Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
  • Proficient with carpentry tools, including hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Manual dexterity and a good sense of balance to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with high‑level attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
  • Must be self‑motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi‑functional team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to document calibration results and interpret technical data.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
