Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Obstetrics position in an acute care setting, requiring a MN RN license and expertise caring for OB and postpartum patients.

Responsibilities
  • Work in an acute care OB/Labor & Delivery unit at a Level 3 trauma center
  • Care for postpartum, stable antepartum, pediatric, newborn, GYN, and Med-Surg overflow patients and occasionally serve as 2nd RN in the Special Care Nursery
  • Average daily census includes 5 mom/baby couplets, 2 pediatric patients, 1 GYN, 2 labor patients, and 4 Special Care Nursery patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 mom/baby couplets, 1:5 GYN/Med-Surg, and 1:3-4 pediatrics
  • Support staff includes ward clerk (day hours), CNA (Tuesday–Thursday), charge/resource nurse, and LPN scrub nurse
  • Required to work 12-hour night shifts, every third weekend, and rotating holidays
  • Floating may be required to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units per union contract
  • Uses Epic One Chart as primary EMR; equipment includes Acudose, Philips Vitals Machines, Bladder Scanner, Medula Breast Pumps, Responder 5 Call light system, and Medfusion Pumps
  • Equipment and unit orientation provided on the first day
  • Responsibilities include providing care for patients across OB, postpartum, pediatrics, GYN, and Med-Surg overflow
  • Ward staff includes dedicated support personnel for various shifts and roles
  • All clinicians must badge in and out each shift
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • Previous employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
  • Local candidates (within 80 miles) are accepted, but subject to a local rate adjustment
  • Holiday and weekend coverage is required per rotation
  • Equipment and department orientation are provided on the first day
Requirements
  • Active Minnesota RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent OB/L&D experience, including postpartum and pediatric care
  • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred; if not, proficiency in other EMR systems required
  • Ability to work in Labor, Postpartum, Nursery, and Pediatrics required
  • Must be willing to float to other units as needed
