Job Description

This recruitment will be used to fill three part‑time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Enrollment Services Student Assistant positions at Oregon State University (OSU) Cascades.

The Enrollment Services Student Assistant provides front‑line support to students, faculty, and staff while assisting with projects and initiatives that advance the department’s mission.

This role offers hands‑on experience in student services, customer support, and administrative processes, helping students develop professional skills in communication, technology, organization, and equity and inclusion.

Position Duties
  • Greet visitors and answer walk‑in or telephone questions from students, faculty, and staff; provide information and referrals.
  • Follows Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) when working with confidential information.
  • Support Enrollment Services projects such as communication plans, event promotions, social media, etc.
  • Attend and participate in paid weekly meetings and trainings on Enrollment Services related support.
  • Assist with various additional tasks and projects needed by the department.

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.

Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.

Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard.

  • High School student:
    Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program.
  • Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*.
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*.

* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

  • Required Basic office skills (phone answering, scheduling, online data entry, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and virtual work spaces (Google Suite, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.).
  • Highly responsible and a self‑starter with a willingness to learn new systems and tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy in all tasks and communications.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable attitude and a commitment to meeting customer needs and expectations.
  • Ability to handle inquiries and resolve issues while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
