Orthopedic Surgeons are responsible for providing medical, surgical, and postoperative management of patients having Orthopedic surgery. This position will primarily work in the Bend and Redmond hospitals, Cascade Surgi Center and Bend Surgery Center performing elective and acute surgeries. Orthopedic Surgeons also see patients in a clinical setting and work collaboratively with APPs in the care of patients. It is up to the physician to determine the appropriate site of care for each patient based on the patient’s medical presentation.
WorkSchedule
Physician will have roughly 32 patient‑facing hours per week as a 1.0 FTE, prorated proportionate to their FTE. This will be a blend of hospital rounding, procedure block time and scheduled clinic visits including charting of patients and other necessary duties.
Call ExpectationSurgeon is expected to participate in the Orthopedic Hand call rotation. If qualified, the physician may also participate in Orthopedic Trauma room coverage.
Work LocationPrimary clinic work locations will be in Bend, Redmond and may include some work in outreach clinics.
Clinical Expectations- Examines, diagnoses, and provides a broad scope of orthopedic conditions including conservative care and treatment, acute care and elective surgical procedures.
- May perform emergency procedures when on call or in clinic.
- Performs patient examinations, obtains and records pertinent medical history, subjective, and objective findings.
- Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures, may include reading x‑rays as part of patient assessment.
- Interprets and integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
- Administers and prescribes medications in compliance with state law and practice guidelines.
- Orders and performs appropriate medical and surgical procedures in accordance with state law and practice guidelines.
- Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatments.
- Educates patients regarding health, illness prevention, and healing. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information, documenting clearly and concisely.
- Triages patient telephone calls, providing consultation as needed.
- Communicates effectively with colleagues, patients, physicians, and administration. Maintains quality of clinical practice by selecting appropriate avenues for professional growth.
- Document all patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and complete all necessary tasks in compliance with health system policies and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- Be familiar with the SCHS organization structure.
- Participate in SCMG physicians meetings and assist in policy formation for SCMG and Physician’s practice.
- Keep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity. Must attest to having adequate CME to meet maintenance of board certification and compliance with MSO rules and continuing privileges without restriction.
- Keep all licenses and appropriate certifications current and unrestricted.
- Maintain active privileges rles Health System hospitals sufficient to permit performance of job duties.
