The ELL/Language Specialist will provide comprehensive and systematic support for the educational experienceandacademicachievementof

English Language Learnersandemergentbilingualstudents . This specialist role is a non-evaluative position supporting students, families, staff, and administrators, andfulfillsteaching,case management,collaborativeprofessionaldevelopment,andstaffguidancethat lead to improved outcomes for linguistically-diverse students.

• Planandimplementalanguageprogramofstudyfollowingstateanddistrictgoalstomeetthe individual needs and strengths of students.
• Identifyindividualstudentneedsbycontinuousassessmentoftheirlinguisticandacademic abilities.
• Write standards-basedinstructionalplansthatincorporateavarietyofevidence-based methods and strategies.
• Teach,teamteach,andmodelinstructionalpracticesthataddressalllanguage domains.
• Supportandguideclassroomteachersinexplicitlanguagelessonplanningand language-embedded content units.
• Provideconsultationandsupporttobuildingadministratorsintheidentification,implementation, and analysis of effective language strategies for the building’s specific student population.
• Collaboratewithschoolstaffandfamiliestoincreasefamilyengagementinamannerconsistent with building, department, and district goals.
• Provideprofessionaldevelopmentandtrainingtostaffonevidence-basedstrategiesforserving linguistically-diverse students and families.
• Provide consultation at individual student team meetings (IEPs, etc) on students’ linguistic progressandonadaptationstoacademicpractices,interventions,andgoalstomeettheneedsof the language learner.
• Maintainalldepartmentpaperwork,files,andrecordsup-to-dateandconsistentwithdistrict, state, and federal requirements.
• Collect,analyze,andreviewstudentachievementdatawiththepurposeofprovidingfeedbackto students, families, staff, and administrators on progress toward academic, linguistic, and sociocultural goals.
• Participateinprofessionaldevelopmentactivities,attend meetings,andactasaliaisonbetween the department and assigned school.
• Assistintheassessmentofbuilding-and department-levelneedsandtheplanningrequiredto meet those needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
