Job Description
Summary:
As a Senior Technical Project Manager, you will lead the planning, development, organization, communication, and implementation of small to mid-size technology projects. These projects impact one to several business functions, have moderate budgets, and require coordination of internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsible for managing small to mid-size technology related projects using project management fundamentals to manage scope, schedule, budget and resources.
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop project charters and project plans, including scope, deliverables, schedule, work breakdown structure, milestones, and budgets.
- Provide day-to-day oversight of project plans to ensure teams stay focused, identify impediments, and maintain schedule and budget.
- Manage assigned projects to ensure adherence to requirements, scope, schedule, and budget. Assign and monitor team members tasks.
- Develop and maintain understanding of project scope and status, including high-level architecture/design, technologies/standards, and technical impediments.
- Serve as primary point of contact for project communications with vendors, consultants, customers, and stakeholders.
- Develop KPIs and provide written and verbal project status updates in formal and informal settings.
- Set and track milestones; manage delays and realign schedules as needed.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize information to prepare project status reports and deliverables.
- Document and apply lessons learned to inform future initiatives.
- Assist in development and execution of change management processes within SOLV Energy IT.
- Collaborate with department heads, product managers, and development teams to understand business goals and ensure smooth implementation of technology solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years in a project management role within related fields
- PMP Certification or equivalent is desired but not required
- Understanding of project management fundamentals, work breakdown structures, meeting facilitation, timelines, roles and responsibilities, resource negotiation, change management, and risk identification
- Ability to engage with diverse roles, lead teams, and present to all levels of an organization; adaptable in approach
- Ability to define what “done” means and drive tasks to completion; align teams and stakeholders toward goals
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects with minimal supervision
- Ability to identify needs, risks, and issues early and follow through on action items; develop solutions that address needs, not just the ask
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Conflict resolution skills within projects
- Proficient with Project Management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Primavera P6, and others)
- Proficient with Microsoft O365 suite including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI
- Experience with Jira and Microsoft Teams for program management
- Ability to understand project interactions across multi-disciplinary departments
- Team player with ability to work independently
