Senior Technical Staff Engineer-Applications
Microchip Technology Inc. is hiring for the Senior Technical Staff Engineer-Applications role at our Bend, OR facility. This position designs and manufactures high voltage Si and SiC transistors and diodes, including our line of high voltage VDMOS products used in RF applications such as Plasma, MRI, and Communications. The role will upgrade the DRF reference design to include the latest products, design new reference designs, write application notes to support sales of existing and new RF products, and support internalization to Microchip wafer fabs.
It will also help revive the NPD pipeline to drive margins and sales, respond to customer requests, and serve as the “voice of the customer” back to our New Product Development team for RF products. The role also provides support to Key Semiconductor Capital Equipment customers during the transition from external foundries to internal Microchip fabs.
Responsibilities
- Upgrade the DRF reference design to include latest products
- Design new reference designs
- Write application notes to support sales of existing and new RF products
- Support internalization to Microchip wafer fabs
- Revive the NPD pipeline to drive margins and sales
- Respond to customer requests and act as the voice of the customer to NPD
- Support Key Semiconductor Capital Equipment customers during the transition to internal fabs
Requirements/Qualifications
- 12+ years of related work experience
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
- Approximately 25% of time in lab testing components and developing reference designs
- 10-20% travel to customers and sales partners
- Experience in 2-300 MHz RF power system design
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Effective communicator and creative problem-solver
- Ability to learn new technical areas quickly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
- ADS simulations
- Load Pull testing
- S parameter extraction
- Prior experience managing a small team
- HAM radio experience
Critical Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods of and lift test equipment as needed for general laboratory work.
