Join as a Senior VDC Coordinator at Jacobs, responsible for designing and leading wireless telecommunications systems for data center buildings.
Base Pay Range$ – $ per year.
Location & Work SettingPrimary location:
Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The role is on‑site, but Jacobs is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States who are willing to travel to or relocate to the Baton Rouge office.
- Lead end‑to‑end design of wireless systems including Commercial DAS, Public Safety DAS, LMR, Site Radio, RoIP, Wi‑Fi, and Tower Studies.
- Use iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner or similar modeling tools to create detailed designs.
- Coordinate with BIM designers to develop drawing packages and integrate design outputs.
- Engage with AHJs, radio system owners, carriers, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and address technical questions.
- Perform site visits, review technical documents, and conduct performance analysis (noise floor, SNIR, return loss, VSWR).
- Maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation plans; deliver projects on time.
- Respond to RFPs and support bid proposals.
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR 2‑way radio, Site Radio, RoIP, Public Safety DAS, and Commercial DAS (OTA, Neutral Host, DRAN).
- Proficiency in iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or equivalent tools, with at least 5 years of experience.
- Experience working directly with clients to assess wireless communication needs.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225, IFC section 510, IBC, FCC Part 20/90, FCC OET Bulletin 65, and MOTOTRBO systems.
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate across disciplines.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- Design certifications (EDX, Motorola, FCC GROL, NICET).
- Multiplus OEM product certifications.
- Electrical or Communication Engineering degree; EIT or PE designation.
