The Supervisor is responsible for supervising Operating Room Assistants and Anesthesia Technicians across the Main OR, Cath Lab, MDU, FBC, MRI and throughout Bend hospital. The Supervisor ensures staff provide excellent customer service, the operating room remains clean and prepared, and the quality of care meets or exceeds organizational expectations. The Supervisor directly supervises the Operating Room Assistant and Anesthesia Technician caregivers and any other assigned caregivers, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and/or Assistant Nurse Manager.
EssentialFunctions and Duties
- Monitor staff throughout shift to ensure adherence to department and hospital guidelines for operating room cleanliness and sanitization.
- Foster a culture of safety through daily rounding and communication with caregivers and leadership.
- Prepare, update, and manage staff scheduling.
- Develop a strong team of talented Operating Room Assistants and Anesthesia Technicians, train and mentor new hires.
- Order supplies for the department and notify management of needed supplies in a timely manner.
- Maintain knowledge of cleaning processes, regulatory requirements, infection control policies, and disaster response processes.
- Perform cleaning tasks as needed in accordance with department standards.
- Direct and participate in quality improvement activities to improve the environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Report needed repairs and/or services to hospital facilities per guidelines.
- Responsible for budget development, monitoring, accountability, and meeting operational targets within span of control.
- Hire, direct, coach, and monitor performance of all direct reports to develop a high-performance team.
- Ensure all direct reports are current with compliance and safety requirements and implement safety directives and goals.
- Provide and oversee team’s delivery of customer service in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with teams to review processes and identify/implement opportunities for improvement using Lean concepts and tools.
- Support the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects.
- Maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
- Conduct activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Deliver customer service and/or patient care in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
Required: High school diploma or GED.
Licensure / Certification / RegistrationRequired: Surgical Cleaning Technician Certification within one (1) year of hire and current Anesthesia Technologist certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians, or current paramedic certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or the Oregon Health Authority.
ExperienceRequired: Three (3) years of relevant experience and ability to comply with on-the-job training that facilitates hospital environmental processes.
Preferred: Previous supervisory experience.
