- Night Shift Differential - $5.50/hr
- Weekend Differential - $2.00/hr
Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner with co‑workers, hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
Willingness to learn different areas of St. Charles’ Food Service operations.

DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARYThe Food Services Department is a high volume service department that provides world class food and beverage services including patient room service, café, deli and catering.
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Food Service Attendant will be cross‑trained in a variety of food service department positions including Room Service Tray Prep, Room Service Delivery, Dishroom Cleaning Attendant, and Café/Deli Attendant. Working in a variety of positions to cover sick call, ETO and other caregiver absences, this position performs tasks such as customer service, catering set‑up, catering server, catering delivery, cash handling, making coffee and espresso, delivering patient meals, preparing patient meal trays, cleaning dishes, cleaning equipment, and cleaning floors.
This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES- Prepares food products and beverages in accordance with safe food handling guidelines; ensures customer requests are met for special items.
- Operates espresso machine when assigned and prepares hot beverages per customer requests.
- Provides excellent customer service, acting as a knowledgeable resource and making recommendations.
- Stocks and maintains tidiness and cleanliness of assigned café or deli areas.
- Performs light cooking at the grill, sandwich/salad bars or other kitchen areas as assigned.
- Assists caterer to execute high‑end catered events as server, bartender or dishwasher.
- Participates in assembly of patient trays to meet patient request and diet order.
- Delivers trays to patient rooms promptly, verifying correctness via the Double Patient Identifier process and notifying nursing staff of safety precautions.
- Follows isolation precautions when delivering food to isolated patients.
- Conducts all delivery activities with highest customer service, ensuring correct order and addressing dissatisfaction promptly.
- Maintains knowledge of therapeutic diets and menu items, acting as last point of contact for quality checks and notifying appropriate personnel of diet incompatibilities.
- Stocks food supply areas on assigned patient floors; washes dishes, glassware, flatware, kitchen equipment, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashers or by hand.
- Restocks cleaned dishes and equipment; retrieves used trays and carts from patient areas as scheduled.
- Completes all opening/closing procedures and check‑lists.
- Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils clean and orderly; performs routine cleaning of floors, mats, walls, cooking equipment, carts, ceilings and other equipment as assigned.
- Uses chemicals to clean and sanitize kitchen facilities, including deep cleaning of equipment, floor mats, dishwashing machine, floors, carts, refrigerators and counters.
- Washes garbage cans with water or steam; sorts and removes trash to designated pickup areas; sweeps and scrubs floors; cleans and sanitizes surfaces for room service.
- Stores and handles all food properly following HACCP guidelines.
