Primary Purpose

The ASL Interpreter (all levels) is responsible to provide ASL /English interpreting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Possess the professional skills and knowledge required for the specific interpreting situation.
  • Adhere to standards of confidential communication.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to the specific interpreting situation.
  • Maintain ethical business practices.

Ergonomic Requirements

Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.

All individuals are required to be able to perform essential functions without a significant risk of injury or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above.

Level 1 Novice Level 2 Basic
  • Associate degree plus experience at post-secondary level
Preferred requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interpreting
Level 3 Associate
  • Associate degree plus experience at post-secondary level
Preferred Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interpreting
Level 4 Intermediate
  • Bachelor’s plus experience at post-secondary level
Preferred Requirement
  • Bachelor’s plus experience at post-secondary level
Level 5 Advanced
  • certification from RID , NAD , BEI
Preferred Requirement
  • certification from RID , NAD , BEI
Level 6 Master
certification from RID , NAD , BEI
Licensure
  • Obtain and maintain applicable state licensure requirements
