This position oversees day-to-day operations within a machining department that supports an additive manufacturing environment. The Machining Supervisor leads CNC machining, finishing, and secondary operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of precision components. The role requires strong machining expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering, additive, and quality teams.

Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate machining operations for additively manufactured parts, including setup, programming, production, and inspection
- Plan and manage workloads aligned with production schedules and delivery requirements
- Lead, train, and develop CNC machinists and finishing technicians
- Oversee multi-axis CNC lathes with robotic loaders, CNC mills, and Wire EDM equipment
- Collaborate with additive engineers to refine machining strategies for near-net-shape parts and complex geometries
- Review and optimize CNC programs, tooling, and fixturing to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Track KPIs such as throughput, scrap, and downtime, driving corrective actions where needed
- Ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO standards and all safety regulations
- Support first article inspections, in-process checks, and final quality verification
- Drive continuous improvement, 5S, and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Manage preventative maintenance and equipment reliability
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years CNC machining experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong CNC programming ability and knowledge of G/M-code
- Proficiency in 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining, GD&T, and fixture design
- Experience with post-processing for additive manufacturing
- Skilled in CAD/CAM (Solid Works, Mastercam) and Fanuc CNC controls
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications
- Experience with ERP systems such as JobBOSS or Epicor
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Machining titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, or aluminium produced by additive processes
- Experience in aerospace, firearms, medical devices, or semiconductor components
- Background integrating machining into hybrid additive workflows
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
