Position: Manufacturing Maintenance Technician with Deschutes Brewery - Full Time, Night Shift

Overview

Deschutes Brewery is hiring for a Full-Time Maintenance Technician. The role supports the production and packaging of our beer. The typical schedule is 4-10s (10 hour shifts, 4 days a week) from 7pm to 5:30am; actual schedule will be based on business need and will include weekend shifts.

Compensation starts at a minimum of $25.25 per hour, with an additional $3.00 per hour night shift differential for hours between 6pm and 6am. The position offers a career path up to $37.30 per hour for Maintenance Tech employees who complete our internal training program and have several years of experience with us. There are additional wage increases tied to cross-training, promotional opportunities, and trade specialization (e.g., LME, Journeyman Electrician, HVAC, etc.).

The role is to support the production and packaging of Deschutes beer by maximizing efficiencies and reducing downtime through proactive monitoring and maintenance of equipment. Ideal candidates will be familiar with maintenance and operation of utilities supporting the operation, including Steam Boilers and related equipment, CO2 delivery systems, Electrical distribution and Control systems, Water/Wastewater, Chemical and Compressed air delivery systems, Glycol Chillers and related support equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Repairs, replaces, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery and equipment.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance and repairs to manufacturing equipment as needed.
  • Observes devices/systems in operation to locate causes of trouble.
  • Repairs and replaces defective parts.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, overhaul, lubricate, disassemble and repair as needed.
  • Provide consistent communication with fellow maintenance team members and Operations team.
  • Utilize CMMS system to view work orders, document parts usage and labor hours, add notes of work completed, and close out the work order.
  • Follow procedures for documenting parts usage and reporting inventory levels.
  • Assess job hazards and contribute to providing the safest work environment possible.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or related field.
  • 3+ years of verifiable experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training to handle the duties of this position.
  • Experience in a brewery, food production, or beverage manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Ability to work with a team by actively listening and cooperatively solving problems and relating well to others.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Windows, MS Outlook).
  • Ability to work quickly to solve problems; strong professionalism and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize day-to-day and longer-term projects.
  • Self-motivated to achieve or exceed desired results.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to extreme conditions, including heat, humidity, and noise.
  • Lift up to 70 lbs; frequent lifting and/or carrying up to 55 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and ascend/descend ladders, stairs, and scaffolding as needed.
  • Ability to grip, seize, and manipulate objects; reach in multiple directions.
  • Vision requirements to observe details and safety hazards.
