Description:
The registered nurse will provide care to oncology patients. Responsibilities include the administration and monitoring of chemotherapy. The role requires knowledge of acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and extravasation injury. Nurses will support patients with nausea, vomiting, and other treatment-related side effects. The position involves patient education regarding medications and treatment options. The nurse will perform lab draws and manage central lines.
Candidates should have experience with adult and geriatric patient populations. The daily patient census averages 20. Nurses will work closely with interdisciplinary teams. Understanding of isolation precautions and appropriate PPE usage is necessary. Candidates must demonstrate competency in phlebotomy skills. Experience in outpatient oncology settings is an asset. The role requires effective communication and care coordination with patients and families.
Knowledge of various cancer types and patient management is essential. The nurse will participate in the care of patients with hematologic diseases. Candidates should possess skills in recognizing and managing abnormal lab values. The position requires the ability to provide hospice care and support for families.
