Direct all aspects of the college club sports/intramural and recreational activities. Responsible for all Mazama Gym operations, including staffing, light maintenance and custodial, and equipment based on college, community needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordination of Sports and

Activities:

  • Develop, promote, implement and administer all student intramural and club sports activities, races and tournaments;
    Position coordinates approximately 20 club, intramural groups, races, or tournaments annually.
  • Coordinate evening athletic leagues in collaboration with the Club and IM Sports Coordinator.
  • Involve students and staff in long‑range planning of intramural and club sports activities.
  • Provide activities in support of the COCC branch campuses.
  • Assist with supervision and implementation of special recreation events.

Leadership and Supervision of Staff and Building:

  • Operate within assigned budget amounts for all Intramural, Recreation and Club Sports Programs under the Department of Student Life.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule all professional staff, building supervisors, sports officials, coaches, and work‑study students in support of student recreation and academic fitness spaces.
  • Provide ongoing oversight and examination of facilities and equipment; submit recommendations and work orders for necessary equipment, maintenance and facility improvements; coordinate annual purchasing of equipment for recreation and academic fitness spaces.
  • Support health and human performance activity classes in the setup and use of equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain contact with off‑campus agencies and community organizations including appropriate Club and IM sports associations, Bend Parks and Recreation, and professional associations.
  • Perform other duties as they pertain to the overall objective of the position, as assigned.

  • Experience in developing and promoting new as well as maintaining existing recreational programs successfully.
  • Skills in leadership and management concepts, techniques, and strategies and the ability to teach such to students and staff.
  • Experience in managing a fitness facility as well as the maintenance/repair of equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to build and maintain effective student, staff, faculty and peer relationships.
  • Ability to promote, direct, implement and evaluate a multiplicity of projects, assignments and extracurricular activities with little supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and decision‑making
  • Skills in conflict resolution processes and techniques and demonstrate ability to work with difficult individuals
  • Demonstrated computer skills in word processing, data base management, spreadsheet and desktop publishing applications.
  • Able to travel throughout College district as needed.
  • Ability to work with and support diverse individuals, groups, and communities and be responsive to their needs, concerns and ideas.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience.
