Primary Purpose

The Intramural Basketball Certified Referee is responsible to officiate the Intramural basketball games that occur at the COCC Mazama Gymnasium.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Know and uphold all Intramural basketball league rules during competition.
  • Follow established procedure, along with on-site supervisor, in the event of a sports injury.
  • Model sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards players and spectators.
  • Model nondiscriminatory practices in all games/competition.
  • Assist in training the student referees during games and during breaks of game action.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned that supports the overall objective of the position.

Ergonomic Requirements

Work hours are determined by the supervisor and vary based on business needs and locations. Position assignments may be assigned an alternate schedule to service the campus needs. Requires the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods, and possibly in various weather outdoors. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • Must possess some knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
Certification
  • Basketball Officiating Certification from an established Officials Association.
