Our client is a highly respected and forward-thinking firm of Chartered Accountants with an outstanding reputation for client service and staff development. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Client Bookkeeper to join their friendly and supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious bookkeeping professional looking to work within a modern practice environment, managing their own portfolio of clients whilst playing an important role within the wider team.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients, providing bookkeeping and accounting services whilst developing strong and lasting client relationships.

Duties will include:

• Managing a portfolio of owner-managed business clients

• Bookkeeping using cloud accounting software including Xero and Sage

• Preparation and submission of VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD)

• Preparation of management accounts

• Bank reconciliations and ledger maintenance

• Liaising directly with clients and providing ongoing support and advice

• Assisting with year-end accounts preparation

• Training, supervising and supporting junior members of staff

• Identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes

• Working closely with managers and partners to ensure excellent client service

The Candidate:

The successful applicant will possess:

• Previous experience within an accountancy practice environment

• Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge

• Experience of MTD requirements and cloud accounting systems

• Excellent communication and client management skills

• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff would be advantageous

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail

• A positive and proactive approach to client service
