Job Summary

Driller Operator at Sealaska

This position ensures drilling operations are executed in accordance with the drilling plan from implementation to abandonment of drill sites. The Driller leads the crew, prepares equipment and sites for the operation, and manages setup and breakdown of drilling sites. Tasks include repetitive bending, lifting, and climbing throughout the normal workday. The Driller promotes safety, reports safety problems, incidents, accidents, or irregularities.

Duties

/ Responsibilities
  • Work up to 55 hours per week doing physical labor (up to 12 hours per day)
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs
  • Conduct pre‑trip inspection
  • Set up control zone
  • Perform physical labor: shoveling, drilling debris, transporting materials using ergonomically correct lifting techniques
  • Lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds or more throughout the work day
  • Perform repetitive motions including bending and twisting throughout the day
  • Stand for long periods (field work involves standing on feet for the work day except for breaks and lunch)
  • Maintain equipment
  • Understand safety policies and procedures
  • Direct subordinate employee(s)
  • Maintain all certifications required by the industry or OSHA
  • Forklift trained
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A or

    B);
    Class A preferred or willingness to obtain Class

    A. Driving record must be clear of major infractions.
  • Environmental or Rotary Drilling Experience
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day
  • Pass yearly physical and random drug tests
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Walk; use hands to finger, handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend or crouch; talk or hear
  • Vision: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • Lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day
  • Wear protective and safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats
Work Environment

Work can be indoor or outdoor, subject to weather conditions and other environmental elements. Field work often involves uneven and slippery surfaces.
