Quercus Forest Products is a contractor for Domtar. We provide a service to meet the expectations of Domtar State of the chipping art.
PurposeThe purpose of the millwright position is to maintain all chip mill mechanical and hydraulic systems to ensure that all systems operate safely, efficiently, and productively.
Responsibilities- Ensuring the mill minimize downtime and maximize uptime by inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mill systems.
- Assisting all chip mill personnel as needed in ways to increase production through fabrication of various devices.
- Monitor all systems in the mill to troubleshoot the systems by sight, sound, touch.
- Lubricate all systems in the mill with help of operators in accordance with lubrication schedule records.
- Maintain lubrication records with the help of the lead or mill manager.
- Fabricate various components such as chutes and sides on conveyors from metal.
- Read and interpret prints, drawings, and maintenance manuals on mill equipment.
- Lock out any equipment before performing maintenance.
- Lift and move heavy equipment using cranes and coma longs.
- Remove and or replace bearings, sheaves, and cables.
- Install, align, tension, and maintain a chain and sprocket drive system.
- Align and tension a belt drive system.
- Repair and or replace components on a hydraulic system.
- Maintain conveyor systems.
- Assist in chipper knife changes when needed.
- Communicate with all mill personnel.
- Manage the maintenance functions by wandering around entire mill.
- Climb into small and tight locations for inspection and maintenance.
- See, hear, and feel mechanical systems and determine their mechanical status.
- Climb ladders and steps as high as 150 feet.
- Lift objects as heavy as 100 pounds such as debarking drum tires and chipper anvil on occasion.
- Communicate with mill personnel on 2-way radio.
- Importance of electrical, air, and hydraulic lock out.

- Measurement tools and their correct application.

The millwright is required to receive approximately one month of on-the-job training provided that the millwright has prior experience.
